What We Believe
+++We Believe
in the "triune God" as confessed in the Apostle's Creed:
I believe in God the Fathe r Almighty, maker of heaven
and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin
Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died,
and was buried. He descended into hell. The third day
He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty.
From thence He will come to judge the living and the
dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian
Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of
sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
Amen.
+++We Believe
that we are born into a sinful world, deliberately participate
in sin and are helpless to change our sinful ways and
please God.
+++We Believe
Jesus, the Son of God, was born, lived, suffered, died and
was raised to new life to forgive our sins, and put away
God's wrath that we may be children of God.
+++We Believe
that God gives the forgiveness that Jesus earned to all
who trust in Him; and that God the Holy Spirit works this
saving faith and trust in our heart through Baptism, the
Lord's Supper, and God's Word.
+++We Believe
that the Bible is God's inspired, faithful and true Word,
and the only source for knowledge about God and His
love for us in Jesus Christ.
Holy Communion/The Lord's Supper
At Hope, we practice Close Communion. This means
we celebrate the Lord's Supper with those who
believe as we do. We believe that with the bread and
wine Jesus also gives His true body and blood to
forgive, renew, and assure us of His mercy and love.
Our Lord invites to His table those who trust His
words repent of their sin, and promise to forgive and
love as Jesus does.
If you are uncomfortable, unsure, or believe differently
from this church or the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod,
please speak to a Pastor about receiving instruction in
the Lord’s Supper for the future. When visiting us , you
may remain seated and pray for those communing, or to
come up with hands folded for a blessing.
If you believe as we do, ask yourself the following
questions in preparation for the reception of the
Lord's Supper...
- Do I believe I am a sinner and am I sorry for my sins
of thought, word, and deed?
- Do I believe that Jesus' sacrifice has paid the debt for
my sins, and do trust in Him alone for my forgiveness
and my salvation?
- Do I believe that in Holy Communion I receive the real
body and blood of the risen Christ for the forgiveness
of my sins, strengthening of my faith, and for my
salvation?
- Do I promise to reject my past sinful life and now live
as the child of God that I am?
(If you have been baptized in the name of the Triune God,
are in agreement with our Lutheran beliefs and have been
confirmed, and answer "Yes" to the above questions, we
welcome you to commune with us. Please register your
communion in the friendship folder as it is passed.)
