BEWARE and BE AWARE
Across the country thieves are using emails and
phone calls to extort money from church members,
supposedly soliciting help for the targets’ pastors.
The scammers use pertinent names and church
location; hence they can be very convincing with
their “talk.” Hope DOES NOT ask for money over
the phone or through email. If you are contacted
in such a way, call the church office BEFORE you
give any account information or agree to give
money. Then, call the police.

Lutheran Early Response Team (LERT)
Sweet Haiti Loving Friends, please keep praying. We made an extremely difficult decision to evacuate all of our American missionaries yesterday based on the Spirit’s guidance in our hearts and minds after hours of prayer, threats made against embassies and international groups because the international governments have sided with Haiti’s current president, and the evacuation of all non essential US Embassy personnel and their families. Our hearts are completely torn for Haiti and our beautiful HFAP family. We are to the point that our prayers come in the form of tears and not words. Family and friends have been messaging us scared since violence picked up last night after the president finally addressed the nation - but it wasn’t what the opposition wanted to hear. Gunfire started immediately and friends woke up to heavy smoke in their properties from fire on the streets.

Our family members do not even have water to drink. Please help us pray
- For God to protect Hope House and Gift of Hope, our staff, children and dogs, with armies of angels - For people to be given opportunity to secure necessary supplies (Loved ones are having a hard time even finding drinking water) - For God’s peace and wisdom to flow down like a mighty river through our streets - For people to turn to prayer and not anxiety or violence - For God to raise up a leader or shake a leader into devout relationship with him. - For protection over the weak and vulnerable who were already victims of poverty and oppression Oh Ayiti Cherie. You are broken, and we are broken with you. 🇭🇹 |

PRAYER PRACTICES
The Bible implores us to always be praying –
“… be constant in prayer.” (Romans 12:12).
Michigan District President, the Rev Dr David
Maier, published a blog last month that gives
us an outline on how we can pray to God.
Based on Mark 10:46-52, Maier’s devotion
outlines a pattern of prayer that Jesus en-
couraged, even for a blind beggar. As in the
case of blind Bartimaeus, we are to ask God
immediately, defiantly, and specifically for our
prayer request. May God’s Word inspire you
to a richer prayer life as we prepare for Lent.
